Jordan Six Rings- Beijing Olympics

July 19, 2008 by lik dot

I wasn’t a big fan of the first look of the Jordan Six Rings (which just happen to be dropping on my birthday, August 16) shoe so I never posted them.  Then I saw the Olympic version of them and now I’m looking for a release date.  The only info so far has them releasing before the Olympics start on 8-8-08.

The Six Rings is a combination of 7 previous Jordan sneakers, listed below.

Air Jordan 6 - Lacelock on laces, heel loop
Air Jordan 7 - Huarache style inner sock
Air Jordan 8 - Fuzzy tongue logo, Velcro strap
Air Jordan 11 - Silhouette of upper
Air Jordan 12 - “T W O 3″ on tongue, metal lace loops at top
Air Jordan 13 - Outsole
Air Jordan 14 - Jumpman at bottom of tongue near the toe

I would give the pair dropping on my birthday a second look, but I swear I have every black/red sneaker known to man.  That’s one of the main reasons why I didn’t cop the 4/19 package that dropped today (although I need a pair of 19s, one of the few Jordans that I didn’t cop at its original release date).  That’s just too much black/red in one package.  However, I am feeling these Olympic Six Rings, so maybe I’ll grab me a pair of them if I feel like it.

Skillz in the Booth- Rap City July 18, 2008

July 19, 2008 by lik dot

Too many quotables. My two favorites:

“The day I don’t shine, that’ll be the day that 50 Cent sell what he sold the first time.”

“Pitch it to me? It’s going out of the ballpark…and mess ya hood up like a brand new Wal-Mart.”

VA is all I’m gonna say. Million Dollar Backpack in stores July 22nd. Make sure you cop that.

Real Man of Genius: Keison Wilkins

July 18, 2008 by lik dot

The newspaper article can tell you better than I can.

DAYTON — The second time Keison Wilkins acted as his own attorney for a felonious assault trial didn’t work out so well.

Montgomery County Common Pleas Judge Mary Katherine Huffman sentenced Wilkins to 42 years in prison Monday, June 30.

The sentencing capped off a week of Wilkins’ antics, which frequently caused Huffman to clear the courtroom. At one point he began yelling about lynchings. On Thursday, he apparently faked a heart attack, collapsing to the floor while uninterested observers watched.

After the “attack,” during which medical personnel checked him out and found nothing wrong with him, Wilkins sat in a chair, pretending to be unconscious. When a deputy put an ammonia stick under his nose Wilkins responded, opened his eyes, then went back to feigning unconsciousness.

This is why you should always have a capable and competent lawyer by your side whenever you go to court, although dude seems to have had success in the past representing himself. But his antics are hilarious, especially when they put the smelling salts under his nose and even they didn’t revive him.

CNN Article on Nas

July 18, 2008 by lik dot

More Untitled promo, this time courtesy of CNN.

When Nas said he didn’t name his album “Nigger” because there might be problems getting it into stores, it was no surprise. But when he said pressure from black leaders played a role, it seemed out of character.

The Queens-reared rapper has never been one to kowtow. Just last month, he referred to the Rev. Jesse Jackson as “the biggest player hater” and declared Jackson’s time as a voice for black America over.

But in a recent CNN interview, Nasir Jones explained he didn’t change the album’s name to please the Rev. Al Sharpton and other black leaders. Rather, they were stealing his thunder.

“I don’t think I liked the attention I was getting from some of the elders in my community,” he said. “I saw it kind of leaning toward being about them … only about them. I kind of wanted to just shake that off of me.”

Lord yes.

And then I watch it again. Nelly, I ain’t mad at you Derrty (is that how they spell it?)

lik dot

PS…this song is produced by Jermaine Dupri, who does most of Mariah’s shit.  Can’t you just hear Mariah doing this song and it being a #1 hit?  Like my man Jay said, I can see Mariah in this video as well.  Nick Cannon lost.  (But not really, b/c dude’s hit list is better than the Beatles.  Mariah, Christina Milian, Kim K, Selita Ebanks…how the f*ck does he do it??)

Alicia Keys- Superwoman

July 16, 2008 by lik dot

Cause a Superwoman needs a Superman…here I am.  LOL.

Real talk though, big up to all the women, especially black women, who are excelling, whether it be in the home, business world, or anywhere else.  You really don’t get the props that are needed to you.  So while I doubt a lot of Black women visit this site, this one is for you.  Just remember that every Superwoman needs a Superman, and that while you might be able to do it alone, it’s much easier when there is someone by your side.  Sometimes I think we all need to realize this.
