Mark Cuban: Please Go Sit Down Til the Season Starts

Okay Mark. We know you have beef with Don Nelson. It’s been documented. Don thinks you owe him $6.5 million…you say you don’t. But this latest stunt by you is ridiculous.

If you haven’t heard:

Don Nelson is being sued by the owner of the Mavericks for using “confidential information” to beat his former team in the playoffs, and if an arbitrator agrees with this claim, then Nelson might not be allowed to coach again for Golden State.

How ridiculous is this? I want to know the name of the lawyer who even filed this bogus claim. Coaches go back and coach against their former teams each year. No one else claims confidential information when they are beaten. If Cuban really thought there was cause for concern, he would be looking to Don Nelson’s son, Donn, who is an assistant coach for the Dallas Mavericks.

The fact of the matter is this. The Mavs had high expectations this year after choking to the Heat last year in the Finals. They sprinted through the regular season, flirting with winning 70 games before finishing the season with a 67-15 record. They entered the playoffs with the #1 seed in the West and a pretty easy road to the Finals (the Spurs and Suns would meet in the second round).

The Warriors- Mavericks was one of the most intriguing series of the first round because of the history of the two teams. Avery Johnson and Don Nelson are close, Donn Nelson actually coaches for the Mavericks, and Mark Cuban allegedly owes Don money.

The Warriors pulled off one of the greatest upsets in NBA history, becoming the first 8 seed to defeat a 1 seed in a 7-game series (the Warriors won 4-2). And now Cuban has the answer.

“Don may know that (Dirk) Nowitzki likes to turn toward his left shoulder not his right shoulder, but we don’t think that’s a trade secret or confidential information,” Nelson’s attorney, John O’Connor, said by phone on Friday from his San Francisco office. “Cuban apparently does.”

If you watched the series like me, you know that Golden State just outran and outplayed (and maybe even outcoached) the Mavericks. Golden State’s speed was too much for the Mavs to handle.

I have a lot of respect for Mark Cuban: the man has amassed a business empire, is worth billions of dollars, and is one of the coolest owners in the league. I applauded you when you stood up for Genarlow Wilson. I usually agree with you about your complaints about the NBA. But this is just plain embarrassing to yourself and the Mavericks organization. Handle this with Don Nelson, and stop trying to file frivolous claims that will never hold up in court or arbitration. Oh, and non-compete clauses are usually unenforceable. Get the $200,000 back from Don Nelson and move on. And as much as I hate to say this, it’s baseball season. I would rather not hear from you again until November.

Lil Wayne Speaks on the Carter 3 Leak

While enjoying a Domino’s pizza and detailing his next ventures, Weezy speaks on the Carter 3 leak and that he will be releasing a mixtape titled “The Leak” with intros and outros and whatnot.  The real Carter 3 album should be dropping sometime in 2008.  In the meantime, Weezy spoke on the upcoming joint album with Santana, “I Can’t Feel My Face,” which should have a single dropping by the end of the month (June or July? whatever) and his new group, the Bad Ass Grasshoppers (BAG), who should be releasing something sometime soon. He also has a champagne and a clothing line for men and women coming out in the near future.  Interesting.  Anyway, peep the video, holla @ me.

Been a while since we heard from the boy Freeway. Last I heard, he was hookin up with G-Unit and Free at Last had a summer release. That was 2005. This mixtape serves as the prelude to the actual release of Free at Last. I still don’t know of a release date, but check the Free at Last website for more details.

NHTVSN “Hip Hop Went Pop” Tee

The boys from 3sixteen coming with their newest creation “NHTVSN.” They have some dope stuff, especially this Hip Hop Went Pop Tee using the Dr. Seuss characters. This is a play off of the old school book, Hop on Pop for you young heads. Sometimes when I listen to hip-hop nowadays, I think that these rappers had a Dr. Seuss book in the booth. New Era All Over Sticker Fitted

The sticker on the front of the lid on fitted should have gone out about 2 years ago.  However, the style remains and yours truly is guilty of keeping the 5950 gold sticker on his cap.  New Era has decided to take it one step further and put embroidered gold stickers all over the cap.  Two bad things: I think they are only available in Europe (what kind of shit is that?) and they don’t have my size, so I won’t be able to cop one.  But maybe you’ll be luckier than me and can afford the trans-Atlantic shipping.  Check em out here.

Confirmed: 11 Jordan Packs to be Released in 2008

Per the good heads over at Niketalk, Jordan Brand will unveil 11 packages of Jordans in their original colorways to commemorate the release of the 23rd Jordan shoe. However, to make things confusing for those of you who are not mathematically inclined and never learned your Roman numerals, each package will include 2 pairs of shoes that equal the number 23.  Should make for some pretty interesting combinations.  I’m probably looking most forward to the XX and the IIIs, 2 of my favorite Jordans of all time.

I will post more information when it becomes available or you can click the link above as it is updated.  Kinda wary on the prices, because something this big has to go for at least $350.  Maybe it will depend on the specific packages.  Start saving now, b/c I believe that one package will be released per month, along with the regular release of the XXIII in February.  2008 is going to be one expensive year!!
