Ever since I was a lil boy, my favorite SUV has been the Toyota Landcruiser. If you’re an oldhead like me, you can’t remember watchin a hiphop video in the early 90s and not seeing one as the luxury jeep of choice. And the sad thing is, besides a slight change in the body style in 1998, the jeep has looked the same all these years.
When Lexus entered the luxury jeep game, they adopted the Landcruiser’s body style and named it the Lexus LX470 (the LX450 was around for about 2 years). Besides some changes on the interior, it was essentially the same vehicle. Now, after having the same body style since 1998, they’ve totally redesigned it (sorta) and come with a hott SUV for the streets.
The new SUV comes with a bigger engine (5.7 liter, V-8), and more amenities inside. The reason why I say it’s sorta totally redesigned is that they’ve actually taken the grille off the new LS460 and slapped it on the front of this baby. But it’s still hott, so no real complaints from me.
Although I still would go with the Range Rover, the Landcruiser/ LX570 will always have a special place in my heart b/c it was the first full-body SUV that I fell in love with. Plus you can’t go wrong with a Toyota/Lexus vehicle- they’re just built to last and I’ve heard from people that own Ranges that they are hassle to get repaired. As the proud owner of a 1993 Honda Accord with 215,000 miles on it, I sometimes feel like it’s time to upgrade. However, student loans don’t always make it practicable to cop that Mercedes Benz CLS that I aspire to have one day. Enter the all new-redesigned 2008 Honda Accord. And I like them so much, that I’ve decided to write about them and my other favorite things daily, or whenever I’m not too busy. The tagline is not entirely accurate. Speakerboxx will be more than sneakers, sports, and hip-hop…we’ll also delve into video games, cars, beautiful women…sorta like a King Magazine, but online.
