Mixtape of the Week: Hell Rell- Top Gunna (The Ruga Edition)

July 16, 2008 by lik dot

This is the warm-up mixtape for the new album, Black Mask & Black Gloves dropping July 22nd. (I didn’t know it was so soon).  I haven’t heard any new Ruga in a while, especially since the whole Dipset pseudo-breakup. If you remember, Rell was ridin with Cam and had some choice words for Jimmy. But Now Cam is nowhere to be found besides letting the beat build, and Jimmy is splashing with Byrdgang Money.

Good thing DukeDaGod is still there to steady the ship (somewhat).

Download it from them 2dopeboyz like I did. Peace to Shake.

Here is a video for the lead single from Black Mask & Black Gloves, “Get Ready.”

It’s Mr. Ruga!!!  Lookin like a million dollars in all ten dollar bills!

Nas- Like Me (Bonus Track)

July 14, 2008 by lik dot

Make your Untitled album even more exclusive.

Nas- Like Me

And oh yea, Nas’ people aren’t tripping that the album got leaked.

“I don’t think the leak has hurt Nas in any way,” he says, adding that leaks have “helped those who have delivered on their albums with good music … If (fans) want to support it, they’ll go buy it.”

Saleh’s relaxed attitude reflects a growing belief among some music industry vets that unauthorized leaks of an album before its release can boost sales. Leaks provide a way of generating buzz for an upcoming album. If fans get excited by what they hear, this line of thinking goes, they’ll go out and buy the album when it’s released.

It’s a stance that flies in the face of the conventional wisdom that Internet piracy invariably hurts music sales. In fact, whisper some retailers, labels themselves are sometimes the source of leaks in an effort to stir consumer interest.

Those who believe in the promotional power of leaks can point to recent chart action to bolster their position. During the past year, three of the six biggest debut sales weeks on the Billboard 200 album chart were notched by hip-hop albums that had been leaked: Kanye West’s “Graduation,” 50 Cent’s “Curtis” and Lil Wayne’s “Tha Carter III.”

Word.  Like I said before, I’m def copping.  But I’ve copped every Nas LP.  If the boy Weezy can go gold in a day, my man Nas can at least 200,000.  Promotion hasn’t been what I would have liked, but there is def a buzz in the air.

Keep Jesse Away from Barack’s Nuts

July 10, 2008 by lik dot

“F*ck black leaders, cause whites ain’t got none leading them.” -Nas

You know Fox and O’Reilly were loving this. Notice that Ill Bill says this is just “a part” of what Jesse said. There is a rumor that the other portion includes the N word. N word.

“Black leaders” are hating on the man b/c he didn’t get their co-sign before running for the presidency. If you will remember, 75% of them were rocking with Hillary until the very end. This just went to show that they most certainly do not speak for us or lead us. Black people have a mind of our own and we’re going to rock with the candidate that speaks for us and has our best interests at heart. Sometimes I wonder if the so-called black leaders do.

PS…I wish I could find a mp3 of “Black Zombies” by Nas right now.  Somebody hook that up before I do.
